Human security derives from peace and peace may remain a dream without democracy, hence all three are interwoven and largely dependant on each other. Giving more importance to one and/or ignoring other will never produce the desired results. Pakistan situation of insecurity, blasts, suicide attacks, target killing, street crimes very clearly reveals the effect and impact of the toppling the democratic government by dictator and imposed unpopular decisions on masses and in the reaction past 8 years witnessed worst situation of terrorism due to which thousands of innocent lost their lives, hundreds handicapped and billions worth public and private property is damaged. Non democratic process not only develops harsh and non tolerant attitude within the citizen, particularly of adolescent and youth segment of the society, which easily leads them towards terrorists to use them for their own interest by giving them false dreams and fantasies. These youth bombs on one hand become pivotal player in internal terrorism, while on the other hand plays in the hands of global terrorists and/or their henchman and sometime does cross boarder terrorism, which even further aggravates the border security and gives moral and social justification to the dictators to not only continue their non democratic government but further curtail the democratic process, parities, leaders etc. Hence engaging youth in constructive manner would not only improve the security situation and promote concept of Human security  but would result on peace and democratic norms and processes. Keeping this important reality in view and did the following activities to fulfil our responsibility as key civil society active member:

Youth and Adolescent Empowerment
Constructive engagement of youth a well designed strategy is applied which could lead these youth towards peaceful and democratic individual. In this regard following efforts are made:

Organizing and Strengthening youth
Very long and tedious process of mobilizing teachers, parents and communities, SEHER was able to form youth clubs  and community youth Clubs . Altogether over 40 such clubs came to existence. They were oriented and de-oriented on concepts of peace, democracy, CEDAW, UDHR and CRC. These immersed themselves in positive and constructive activities such as mobilizing the youth towards constructive activities, developing blood banks, making book banks and facilitating these youth/children who need physical and social support.

Collective strength of youth through network
It was through appropriate to have a collective platform for youth clubs where they could not only share their experiences and learn from each other but also generate collective actions for peace, democracy and human security. A network of both community youth clubs and youth clubs is formed with the name of youth and adolescent networks (YAN) with the vision to play proactive role in addressing the issues concerning with peace, democracy and human security. YAN took the agenda and conduct various dialogues between various religious groups, dialogue with political parties for promoting democratic values within the parties, monitoring of the elections (both local bodies and general elections) and rallies

For peace and dialogue with local Government and law enforcing agencies for ensuring law and order situation for protection of innocent lives and property. A part from their rigorous activities, some of the broad activities YAN did are given bellow:

People to people Contact:
South Asia, particularly Pakistan and India are always on the edge of War, even they have gone far beyond the conventional weapons and both are nuclear weapon, tension between both countries puts the whole south Asia at tension and economic recession. While any war between both would not only destroy both countries and result on millions and millions of people but would also destroy the other countries and killing of their citizen or even sustaining the worse effects of the atomic bombs after affects.

Governments initiate dialogues with each other due to international pressure, prolongs their dialogue in terms of making them technical and procedural, which gives them “face saving”, as on both sides there are interest groups and their interest are only served and saved, if tension exist, hence such dialogues remains years and years and suddenly stops and come to the zero level by result of any incident  take place. Past experience and analysis reveals that people pressure is the best tool to compel both the governments to decrease the tension solve their political issues so both government could focus their people problem, elevate poverty, ensure public services for their people, demonstrate good governance, improve law and order situation. It is long way to achieve the desired results of people to people contact, however up till now YAN with SEHER technical and financial support could do the following activities:

Developing linkages with IPYFP
YAN is facilitated to develop their linkages with India Pakistan Youth Forum for peace and become formally part of this south Asian forum. So they could ensure their share of peace and human security. Security in this regard very strong links and coordination is built between the both YAN & IPYFP, they have been sharing their progress new ideas etc with each other and sometime develop joint and collective actions in some international forums.

People to people contact through physical visits:
(A)       Both YAN and IPYFP become closer with the passage of time and then YAN invited the delegation of IFPYFP, visit Balochistan and show solidarity with Balochistan’s CSOs in general and YAP in particular. Apart from other parts of Pakistan IPFYFP delegation spent 3 days in Quetta, went through CSOs work, YAP peace and religious harmony work and met with ministries, Nazims/Mayor. They also shared their feeling that it is always Government and Media who presents like we are enemy countries, but the reality is neither Pakistan nor India people are with any enmity with each other, these are both governments which might be promoting these enmity.

(B)       A delegation of YAW also visited India on invitation of IPYFP, it was 10 days solidarity visit. The delegation went through villages, educational institutions, political parties, local bodies, CSOs and various networks and learned a lot. Delegation never felt that they are from another country, the love and generosity shown by people at all level further strengthen the believe that people are source of power, if they are well organized, properly aware of the concept of the peace and democracy and human security they are in position to influence both governments to live in peace with each other so millions of people live could not only be saved but also improved in terms of health, education etc:

Alliance Building for peace, democracy and human security:
SEHER is well aware of the fact that ensuring peace, having true democracy and securing human are neither simple not easy to achieve, especially it become next to impossible for a single organization to achieve it single-handedly. Hence SEHER strategize the Social Forum  in the province to achieve this broad objective of the peace, democracy and human security. SEHER played pivotal role in this regard, provided leadership to the social forum in province and established Balochistan Social Forum and linked it with national and global level social forums.

Hundreds of CSOs, peasant organization, trade unions, women organizations, rights activists gathered on platform of the Balochistan and collectively pursued the agenda of peace democracy and human security. SEHER through Balochistan social forum mobilized thousands of people from all walks of life to participate in Pakistan social forum Karachi) world Social Forum (Mumbai-India) and World Social Forum (Nerobi-Kenya), where agenda of the peace, democracy and human security are promoted with great deal and support of other friends from other parts of the world.
